Non-Fiction

During the 2020 lockdown I found myself without a job, newly single and heading for 50. I decided to turn my life around by undertaking 50 different running challenges, ranging from my first park run to a 100 mile race, writing ‘Hope’ on the London streets and running between every stop on the Piccadilly Street, as well as running with a few of my personal heroes.

2015 saw me complete a major ambition - to run from John O’Groats to Land’s End - 1174 miles and the full length of the UK. Downhill From Here is my memoir of falling in love with Britain’s wild places, whilst lost, injured, alienating support crew and almost drowning in an icy Highland river.

In Spring 2018 I ran from Paris to Istanbul, following the route of the 1883 Orient Express, in a self-built campervan, supported by my intrepid partner. Running the Orient is the story of our adventures - a tale of endurance, singing songs with Austrian farmers, fending off packs of wild dogs and accidentally trespassing on a Turkish military base.
